- Virologic Failure
- Failure to reduce the viral load to an undetectable level or
- Failure to reduce the viral load by at least 2 to 2.5 log10 or
- A persistent increase in viral load following a period of adequate suppression
- Immunologic Failure
- Failure to restore the CD4 count to more than 200 cells/mm3 or
- Failure to significantly increase CD4-cell count or
- A persistent decline in CD4-cell count after a period of immune reconstitution
- Clinical Failure
- Development of new OI, wasting, or dementia or
- Failure to resolve pretreatment OI, wasting, or dementia
