The Evaluation and Management of Dyslipidemia in HIV-Infected Patients
A metabolic syndrome of insulin resistance, obesity, hypertension, and dyslipidemia is quite common and is a significant risk factor for CHD. HIV-treatment-associated fat-redistribution syndrome with dyslipidemia is similar in appearance to this "metabolic syndrome" observed in non-HIV-infected people. Thus, it is important to review the epidemiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, and management of HIV-treatment-associated dyslipidemia to alert clinicians and patients about this emerging problem.
